After breakfast you head from Afra on an old mule track, through a beautiful open valley surrounded by magnificent colorful mountains. The trail continues into the Zat valley, which becomes narrows down until it eventually leads you into a small canyon. You will enjoy your lunch near a small creek under the shade of walnut trees. After lunch you will continue the walk into a side gorge, in which you can either follow the mule track or walk through the gorge further down from the path – depending on the water level. When reaching the village of Azgour, your camp for the night will be set close to the river, under giant fig trees (B, L, D)

Day 4 Azgour - Yagour plateau (2,500m / 8,202ft)

- Walking time about 6-7 hours.

The walk continues steeply up through a juniper forest and up on the Yagour plateau. Along the way to the plateau, you will pass the village Ourzast. Just behind the village you can see some 3,500 years old petroglyphs. After lunch you will continue uphill for a while before the path will start going a little downhill again.  You will camp on the Yagour plateau, where it is possible to find traces of petroglyphs. (B, L, D)

Day 5 Yagour plateau - Ourika Valley (1,800m / 5,905ft)

- Walking time about 6 hours.

From the Yagour plateau you will begin heading west. Further down in the valley, you can see the lower situated Berber villages and their terraced fields. In the distance you can see the silhouette of the mighty Mt. Angout. The path leads you up to a ridge, from where the landscape opens up into the green valley of Ourika.  You will eat lunch in the valley and then head up onto the Om Setti Fadma path. The walk this day will end near one of the closeby villages, where the camp will be set up. (B, L, D)

Day 6 Ourika Valley - Assaka Amenzal (2,200m / 7,217ft)

- Walking time about 8 hours.

You have a long trek ahead of you today. After about 4 hours, with ascents and descents through a spectacular and wild looking gorge, you will arrive to the village of Amenzal. Here it will be time for a lunch break and a rest, before continuing onwards. The afternoon will take you on another 4 hours of walking, before arriving at Tizi Amenzal. Here you will set up the camp near a creek below the mountain pass. (B, L, D)

Day 7 Assaka Amenzal - Assif 'n Tinzar (2,000m / 6,561ft)

- Walking time about 7 hours.

After a good night's sleep and a filling breakfast the trek continues upwards. At the Oumchichka pass, you will be rewarded with a gorgeous panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. After a short break you will continue down to Azib Addouz on the eastern side of the Toukbal massif. The Tinzar river keeps the area well supplied with water, and the surroundings here are lushly green. Late in the day we stop just below the Ourrai pass. (B, L, D)

Day 8 Tinzar - Amsouzert (1,700m / 5,577ft)

- Walking time about 6 hours.

Today's hike begins with a short ascent through the Ourrai Pass. Here you will have a moment to enjoy the view before starting the long descent to the valley. The path leads you past small villages where curious kids often come running out to see the “strange” trekkers. In the village of Amsouzert you will spend the night in a typical Moroccan guesthouse. (B, L, D)

Day 9 Amsouzert

This day is a well-deserved resting day. Take a look around and enjoy life in the small Berber village. It is also possible to go on a picnic in the area. You will spend another night in the guesthouse. (B, L, D)

Day 10 Amsouzert - Lac d'Ifni (2,300m / 7,545ft)

- Walking time about 7 hours.

From Amsouzert you continue toward one of the most beautiful lakes in the High Atlas. The trail leads through an inhabited valley and the village of Imhilene. At midday you will reach lake Ifni. The lake is situated on the south side of the mountain, and despite the considerable altitude, it is nice to take a swim in the lake. The water is around 18 degrees C. Take the opportunity to freshen up and relax before beginning the strenuous climb to Mt. Toubkal.  You will be camping near the lake. (B, L, D)

Day 11 Lac d'infi - Nelther Refuge (3,200m / 10,500ft)

- Walking time about 6 hours.

Well acclimated you have now reached the most demanding day on the trek. In the morning, you will follow the seemingly endless path that winds like a snake up towards Tizi ‘n Ouanoums. From this point the trail will zigzag down to the Neltner hut, where you will spend the night in the tent camp. The adventurous can grab the opportunity to cool off under the nearby waterfall, but in change of a small fee, it is also possible to get a hot shower.  On this evening, going early to bed is recommended, as the climb for the Toubkal summit begins early in the morning. (B, L, D)

Day 12 Nelther Refuge -Toubkal (4,167m/ 13,671ft) - Nelther Refuge

- Walking time: about 5 hours.

Even before sunrise you will be leaving the camp to begin the ascent to the summit of Mt. Toubkal. The ascent in itself is not exhausting, but there are a few steep and slippery places to be passed, and you will feel the thin air up here. In July, there may still be some old snow left, requiring a little extra attention. After 2-3 hours of walking, you will reach the top. The views here will surely outweigh the struggles of getting here. On days with good visibility you can see both the Sahara desert and the snow-capped Atlas peaks. The experience will bust your energy level for the walk down to the Neltner hut, where you will spend another night. (B, L, D)

Day 13 Nelther refuge - Imlil (1,740m / 5,708ft) – transfer to Marrakech

- Walking time about 4 hours.

After breakfast you will go down a wide trail to the town of Imlil. The trail leads through the Mizane Valley and past the sanctuary Sidi Chamarouch. Here you will have a break. Many Muslims go here because the place is reputed to have healing powers. The trail continues down to the village of Aroumd and further on down to the oasis of Imlil. Here you will say goodbye to your Moroccan crew after a final lunch together. Your driver awaits you and will take you the 64 km back to Marrakech. Here you relax in a beautiful riad and let your experiences from the Atlas Mountains settle in. (B, L, D)
