During this walk, you will be passing the village Tamatert in the green valley as you approach the pass Tizi n'Tamatert (2,279m / 7,477ft). After having a nice lunch, the paths will bring you downhill towards Ouanesekra and Tamguist - two villages that have almost grown together in the bottom of the lush valley. You will stay overnight in a local guesthouse in the following village Tinerhourhine (1,600m / 5,249ft), which like other Berber villages is characterized by closely build mud-stone houses with colored iron doors. Take your time to explore the narrow winding alleyways.

Day 3 Walking from Tinerhourhine to Aït Aïssa

Walking time around 6 hours

The hike continues through Imnane valley, where the river cuts through the landscape. On the hillsides the path follows a network of watering canals, which are established to allow watering crops in the dry season. The green trees create a great contrast to the otherwise reddish-brown landscape in this area. You will cross the river by the Berber village Ikkiss (1,700m / 5,577ft) and from here find the path upwards past the cultivated terraces towards Tizi n'Aguersioual. You will enjoy your lunch in Matate on the other side of the valley, before continuing the last stretch through juniper forest to Aït Aïssa (1,800m / 5,905ft). Here you will spend the night in a local guesthouse.

Day 4 Walking from Aït Aïssa to Imlil

Walking time around 4 hours

From Aït Aïssa you will walk through the quiet and less visited Azzadene valley. Here the walnut trees thrive along the roaring river. The trail continues up towards Tizi Oussem (1,900m / 6,233ft), which offers sweeping views down into the valley. From here you will head in direction of Imlil, or if you are up for a little detour, you can walk past the highest waterfall in the Toubkal region - Ighouliden. On the path to Imlil you will cross the mountain pass Tizi Mzik at 2,400 m., which offers stunning views of the Atlas Mountains and the highest mountain of North Africa - Jebel Toubkal (4,167m / 13,671ft). Day 5 Drive from Imlil over the Atlas Mountains to Zagora

From Imlil you will go by car through the Ourika Valley on a road winding its way up through the impressive mountain pass Tizi n'Tichka reaching 2,260 meters of altitude (7,414ft). The meaning of ”Tichka” is "this is difficult", a description that should be understood quite literally, on this old caravan route that crosses the Atlas Mountains to the desert of Sahara.
In visiting the ksar of Aït Ben Haddou, an ancient village consisting of well-preserved grouped houses, which are now protected by the World Heritage of UNESCO.
Next stop on the tour is Ouarzazate, The Moroccan equivalent to Hollywood with the largest film studios of the world in terms of physical area. Originally Ouarzazate was a stopping point for African traders on their way to northern Morocco and Europe. During the French period, the city was a garrison town and customs post, and is today known for its Ouazguita carpets with its characteristic patterns of red-orange on a black background.
You continue through the lush Draa valley to Zagora, passing lots of date palms. The camels will be waiting for you, and bring you through the desert sand to the Berber tents where you will spend the night under the impressive starry sky.

Day 6 Driving from Zagora to Marrakech

After safely returning from the desert by camel, you will go by car through the varied landscape. One moment it is dry and barren and the next it will be green and lush along rivers and watering canals.
There are only a few ways to pass over the Atlas Mountain range, so you will once again cross over the beautiful mountain pass Tizi n'Tichka before arriving in Marrakech in the afternoon. Here you will spend two nights at a traditional Moroccan riad, which with its typical architecture includes an interior courtyard or garden. There are only a few rooms, which means a very family like atmosphere and high service and the decor is typically Moroccan with warm colors.

Day 7 Free day in Marrakech

No visit to Morocco without a stop-over in marvelous Marrakech. Here you will experience old castles with steam baths, Koranic schools with artistic mosaics, the graves of great sultans and the thick citywall, which encircles the entire old medina.
Explore the souks and haggle over prices for a good bargain on embroidered slippers, woven carpets, traditional Moroccan pillows, aromatic herbs and herbal remedies for all kinds of ills. Late afternoon the big Djemaa el Fna Square comes to live with acrobats, snake charmers, henna painters and storytellers.
